Zesty Oyster Crackers
Maybe it’s a Midwest thing, but everyone I know grew up with savory baked oyster cracker snacks. They were usually seasoned with dill and onion powder, but I remember loving them as a kid.
It has been a long time since I have had this easy and affordable snack, but I decided to whip out this oldie and give it a zesty taco twist in the Air Fryer.
How to make Air Fryer Oyster Crackers
This easy Air Fryer Taco Oyster Cracker recipe uses common southwest spices. It may seem like a long list of ingredients, but they are all mostly just coming from your spice cabinet. Grab your measuring spoons and it will just take a couple minutes to mix everything together.
Here is what you will need to get started,
- 2 (10 ounce) bags of oyster crackers
- 3/4 cup oil (vegetable, canola, avocado or grapeseed will work well)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 Tablespoon cumin
- 1 Tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 Tablespoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Place the oyster crackers in a large bowl, and coat with the olive oil. In a separate small bowl, mix all of the spices until well blended. Sprinkle the taco seasoning mixture over the crackers.
Toss the crackers in the spices until they’re completely coated. Place the coated crackers in the Air Fryer basket, and cook for 8 minutes, at 350 degrees.
Cool the crackers on parchment paper. Store the cooled crackers in an airtight container or re-sealable bag.
