Caesar salad is an classic recipe with amazing flavor that makes a fantastic side dish or lunch. If you are looking for a lighter way to enjoy this favorite, I’ve got you covered with my homemade Caesar Dressing made with Greek Yogurt.
We still keep a little bit of mayonnaise for the tang, but replace over half of it with plain Greek Yogurt to lighten things up. Greek yogurt is a great substitute in most dressings or sauces that call for lots of mayo. I don’t like to replace it all or it looses all of it’s richness that we love about it in the first place, but a little may goes a long ways!
How to make Homemade Caesar Dressing
My favorite part of this homemade Caesar dressing is that it comes together so quickly and doesn’t require a blender. Unlike so many of my homemade healthy salad dressing recipes that require an immersion blender to emulsify them, this Caesar dressing just requires seven ingredients that you likely already have on hand.
Whisk them together and you’ve got a light and delicious homemade Caesar dressing that is perfect for your favorite salad or sandwich.
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt, to taste
- fresh cracked pepper, to taste

Here’s the thing, when you are making a homemade salad dressing like this Greek Yogurt Ceasar, it’s important to use fresh ingredients. They really do make a difference when it comes to flavors. So skip the jar of diced garlic and bottle of lemon juice. Hit the produce isle and buy a lemon and a head of garlic.
Same goes for the black pepper. The flavor of fresh cracked pepper is more intense and far better than a jar of black pepper. Not to mention that if you are making a good Caesar salad, you always want to finish it off with some fresh cracked pepper. So just go ahead and buy a pepper grinder and peppercorns already!
Yogurt Caesar Dressing
When it comes to the Greek yogurt, you can use whatever plain yogurt you have on hand. I used non-fat plain Chobani Greek yogurt and it was still a rich and flavorful Caesar dressing. If you prefer full-fat Greek yogurt, go ahead and use that for an ever richer salad dressing.
Greek Yogurt Caesar Dressing with no Anchovies
You might be wondering where the anchovies are, which are a staple in the classic Caesar dressing. Well, we don’t do anchovies in this house!
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good homemade Caesar dressing with anchovies, but I’m not buying a tin of anchovies just to make some salad dressing. I have too many memories of having to pop open those tins to add to the Caesar salads in the restaurants I worked in through college and am no longer interested in that!
Anchovies add a great umami to Caesar dressing that can’t be overlooked though. No worries though because we are using Worcestershire sauce which gives a great umami of it’s own.
How long can I store homemade Caesar Dressing?
The only advantage that store-bought Caesar dressing has over this homemade Greek Yogurt Caesar Dressing is that it is shelf-stable for months on end thanks to all the added preservatives. This homemade dressing can be stored up to 7 days in the refrigerator.

Instructions

Delicious! Just a side note, you can buy Anchovy paste in the Grocery store, so easy to add a teaspoon to the dressing.
