If you are looking for a quick and easy way to make homemade Bagel Chips in the Air Fryer, we’ve got the perfect recipe for those leftover bagels that takes just 10 minutes!
Bagel Chips Recipe
Bagel chips are such a great dunker for a variety of dips. From Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Dip to Classic Hummus, the possibilities are endless. If you like your dippers thick and crunchy, bagel chips are the perfect option. You can season them up with different spices, or just keep it simple with a sprinkle of sea salt.
Making these bagel chips unlocked a core memory for me. In High School as we were decorating our Homecoming float for the parade, a bunch of us girls brought snacks. I remember Brittany bringing bagel dip, which was a chipped beef dip, and it was one of the most glorious things. Super salty and oh so good. What I wouldn’t give for a bowl of that to dip these Air Fryer Bagel Chips in!
Anyone else have some of those old school recipes that just bring back certain memories?
How to make Bagel Chips
The beauty of this Bagel Chip recipe made in the Air Fryer is that it requires only three simple ingredients and ten minutes. Whether you have stale bagels you want to use up, or are looking for that perfect dipper for your favorite appetizer or dip, you can whip up a batch of Air Fryer Bagel Chips in no time!
To get started, you will need the following ingredients,
- Bagel
- Olive Oil spray
- Garlic salt
Cut your bagels in half so you have two half moons. Place the cut end on a cutting board. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the bagels into thin pieces. You will want to cut them as thin as you can without them falling apart. I found 1/8 inch was about the right size.
Cooking Bagel Chips in the Air Fryer
Spray both sides of the sliced bagels with olive oil spray and sprinkle with garlic salt. Arrange them in the Air Fryer so they aren’t overlapping. If you have a smaller Air Fryer, you may need to do this in a couple of batches, or use an Air Fryer Rack.
Cook the bagel chips at 400°F for 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown on the edges. Use a tong to carefully remove the chips from the Air Fryer basket.
How to store Bagel Chips
Allow them to cool to room temperature before enjoying with your favorite dip. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week. A Ziploc bag works great, but they chips are delicate and may get crushed. A sealed Tupperware style container would be the best bet if you make a large batch.
Can I make these in the Oven?
Absolutely! Follow the same instructions for preparing the bagel chips and seasoning them. Place them on a cooling wrack over a baking pan and bake at 400°F for 8-10 minutes.
Toaster ovens are another easy option for making these bagel chips if you don’t have an Air Fryer and don’t want to heat up your kitchen with the oven.
Seasonings for Bagel Chips
You can’t go wrong with a big batch of bagel chips seasoned with garlic salt, but it’s always fun to add a little extra flavor to the chips when you know what they are being paired with. Here are a few flavor inspirations,
- Southwest Dip – cumin and paprika
- Cucumber Feta Greek Yogurt Dip – oregano, basil, dill, garlic and onion powder
- Smoked Spinach Artichoke Dip – black pepper and grated Parmesan
- Canned Salmon Dip – dill and garlic salt
The possibilities truly are endless when it comes to spicing up your bagel chips. Best part of all, this recipe makes a small batch, so you can customize each batch as you go!
