Light Chipotle Tartar Sauce is made with Greek yogurt for a healthy version of the classic dipping sauce that pairs so perfectly with fish.
Light Chipotle Tartar Sauce
If you have spent any time on this little blog of min you know my obsession with chipotle runs deep. From Chipotle Shrimp Tacos, to Creamy Chpotle Chicken & Tomato Soup to one of my most popular recipes, this homemade Chipotle Lime Southwest Dressing.
It is a flavor that packs a heck of a punch of flavor and some spice. When you are looking to lighten up any recipe, it is important to bring back flavor to replace the omitted fats and I find that chipotle does a great job in that department. This Light Chipotle Tartar Sauce is no exception when it comes to delicious chipotle recipes!
This creamy sauce starts with non-fat plain Greek yogurt and a little bit of light mayonnaise and is spiced up with chipotles in adobo, lemon juice and dijon mustard. Some chopped up pickles add the perfect crunch to this delicious dipping sauce. Whether you bake your own fillet of fish or take the shortcut and want something lighter for store-bought fish, this dip is the perfect accompaniment.
Let me give you one bit of advice when buying fish at your grocery store…stay far far away from the “Light Fish Sticks”. The child in me saw them and thought, oh wow I miss fish sticks, these look like a healthier option. So naturally I grabbed a bag and baked them up. They are actually what inspired this lightened up tartar sauce recipe. While they might have been healthier, the taste was HORRIBLE! Like the whole bag ended up in the trash kind of horrible.
I ended up whipping up a healthy and easy tortilla crusted fish recipe to pair with this tartar sauce instead and I will be sharing that delicious recipe tomorrow. Stay tuned!
