This delicious Microwave Peanut Butter Cup Mug is an individual dessert that is rich and chocolaty, and takes less than 5 minutes to make! Combining creamy peanut butter, dark chocolate chips, butter and graham crackers, this decadent 5 ingredient dessert is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Microwave Peanut Butter Cup Mug Dessert
Microwave Peanut Butter Cup Mug Dessert is the answer to my sweet tooth prayers and best of all it’s ready in less than 5 minutes! My go-to sweet of choice when I was younger was a Reese’s peanut butter cup candy bar. I was always sure to grab one when I was at the convenience store. The combination of sweet and salty flavors was and still is delicious!
As I got older, I found that I started to find the store bought candy a little too sweet. Then I discovered you can make your own at home! Peanut butter buckeyes, as they are so often called online are basically the more delicious version of the store bought candy. I love that you can adjust the sugar and salt to your liking. These Peanut Butter Buckeye Brownie Cups are an absolute hit any time I bring them to a get together.
Individual Mug Dessert
Instead of having to make a time consuming recipe with a large batch, I wanted something that was quick and simple and could satisfy my peanut butter craving! That is when I dreamt up this mug dessert. I have never had great success with mug desserts in the past. The cakes that I try tend to have odd consistencies that don’t satisfy much at all.
This Microwave Peanut Butter Cup Mug Dessert is the exception to that rule though! It has all the goodness of a sweet warm dessert right out of the microwave and is the perfect consistency to be scooped up with a spoon!
Peanut Butter Cup Recipe
Individual desserts are the best. Who doesn’t want a sweet little treat all for their own? These mini desserts are perfect for one person, or make a set for a cozy dessert to share. This easy no bake dessert recipe with few ingredients is exactly what you need to get your sweet on!
Making a full size dessert like Triple Chocolate Cake or Peanut Butter Dream Bars is great for parties and big celebrations, but sometimes you need to celebrate the little things. Some days you just need to treat yourself because you made it through the day, the kids are in bed, and you have a chance to take a deep breath! Now is the time for an easy mug recipe. This peanut butter cup recipe is so super easy, it takes almost no time at all.
Peanut Butter Cup in a Mug
If you like peanut butter cups, you are going to LOVE these little treats. They have creamy peanut butter, sugar, and butter. They’re topped with smooth, melted dark chocolate chips. Crushed graham crackers add a touch of crunch. And they take less than two minutes in the microwave! They’re one of the easiest desserts I’ve ever made.
How Do You Make Peanut Butter Cups in the Microwave?
This is such a great recipe because it really is simple. There’s no kneading or preheating or tons of ingredients to measure. It only has five ingredients, and you make it right in the microwave.
- Use a microwave safe mug
- Add the butter and peanut butter
- Microwave for 30 seconds
- Stir in the powdered sugar and crushed graham cracker
- Top with chocolate chips
- Microwave another 45 seconds (the chocolate chips might keep their shape until you smooth them out–don’t microwave them again without double checking!)
- Smooth the melted chocolate over the peanut butter mixture
- Enjoy!
Do You Make Mug Desserts in the Oven?
This is an easy dessert recipe, no baking required. Save the oven for something big, like this Salted Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Tart. Mug desserts are purposely made small enough so you don’t have to use the oven, just a microwave. Most mugs aren’t safe in the oven anyway. This little treasure is microwave only. Some mugs can’t even go in the microwave, so be sure to check before you get started. Most mugs will have whether or not they can be microwaved imprinted right on the bottom.
Microwave Dessert Add Ins
This is one of my favorite easy desserts because it only has five ingredients. If you’re feeling fancy, try some mix ins! You can go as simple or as elaborate as you want. Go nuts! Or add some nuts!
- Crunchy peanut butter
- Chopped walnuts
- Peanuts
- Caramel
- Crushed espresso beans
- Caramel chips
- Cashews
- Whipped cream
- Chocolate sauce
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream
- M&Ms

It was delicious, even though it didn’t look at all like the picture, nor as it was intended. 45 seconds after the chocolate chips were added was way too long in my microwave. The peanut butter was close to burnt and the chocolate chips ended up on the bottom. The next time I make it, I will only put it in for 15 seconds, then check it. It can always be put back in.

Pretty dang good AND easy, plus only one serving so not tempted to eat more. I’m not a graham cracker fan for whatever reason (used to like them), so used crushed shortbread cookies (Keebler). Just out of curiosity, next time (and yes, I WILL be making this again…and again) I’m thinking I’ll combine a small amount of crushed pretzels with the cookies. I’m also a milk chocolate over semi-sweet, so…Because one comment said hers tasted burnt, I microwaved for less time – suspect her microwave just cooks too high. She should try it again with less cooking time or lower power. Thank you for an easy and good recipe.
